In IELTS Writing Task 2, task response refers to how well you have addressed all parts of the question prompt and the main ideas or issues related to the given topic.

Your task response should demonstrate your ability to present a clear position or argument, provide relevant supporting details and examples, and demonstrate an understanding of the task instructions.

Task response is evaluated as whether you have responded to all the questions or prompts of the essay.

Task 2 is not an ordinary essay type.

This is rather a question or questions that you have to answer.

They want to check how you understand the topic sentence and how you respond to that.

Example:

Researching about own's family history is becoming a trend. Why do you think people do it? Is it a positive or a negative thing?

In the given topic sentence there are different questions, and they are.....

1.    Researching about family is becoming a trend, a general statement

2.    Why do you think people research family history?

3.    Is it a positive thing?

4.    Is it a negative thing?

So you have to identify the questions and answer them

To achieve a good score in task response, it is important to carefully analyze the task prompt and ensure that your essay addresses all parts of the question. You should also organize your ideas in a clear and logical way, and support your arguments with relevant examples and evidence.

In short, task response is an assessment of how well you have fulfilled the requirements of the task and how effectively you have communicated your ideas in response to the given topic.
